Shop eBay

Many friends of mine are asking me “How can I buy things from eBay?” Well… Let me share my experience..

First you need to have (if you are in Sri Lanka),

  • An eBay account
  • A Sampath web card
  • A PayPal account (There are many sellers who accept only PayPal)

Sampath web card

In Sri Lanka we need to have a web card to deal with eBay through PayPal and currently this card is issued only from Sampath Bank. Click here for more details on Sampath web card. (I highly recommend to go through this link.)

When I wanted an account I deposited Rs. 2500 and I received the card after 20 days. When the card was ready they called me and asked some questions to verify my identity. Then I just went to the bank and got the card 🙂 (Don’t forget to bring the NIC)

Creating the PayPal account

Go to PayPal.

Create a new account.(This is easy, just follow their instructions 🙂 )

After that when you log in to your account click on “Add/Edit Credit Card” under “profile”.

Here you can add the web card.

You will have to provide your information, card details and also they ask for a security code (CSC code). Call Sampath bank and ask for the code.

Getting started with eBay

Create an eBay account. Click here to go to registration form.

Follow the instruction and finally sign in to the eBay account you created. (Trust me…This is also really easy)

Then click on “My eBay”.

Then click on “Account”.

Click the “PayPal Account” link. ( It is on the left)

Click the “Link My PayPal Account” button.

Then log in to your PayPal account.

Once everything is done you are free to buy…… 🙂 🙂 🙂 (If you have enough balance in your card)

Remember!!!

Even you update your web card balance your PayPal account will show “PayPal balance: $0.00 USD”. Don’t mind it.
In eBay the prices are in USD, GBP etc. (Not in LKR) So this link will be helpful.
